BIBLE READING : Proverb 25; 26; 2 Corinthians 9
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” Proverbs 25:28 (KJV)
Self leadership is the key to safety and fulfilment of destiny. Lack of this will expose one to numerous dangers. A wounded or polluted spirit or soul can mess up one’s relationship both with God and man. The scriptures clearly warns us to guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. Our peace, joy, health, happiness and general well-being are entirely dependent on the soundness of our soul and spirit. There is the need for every one to have rule over the soul and spirit to avoid vulnerability.
Countless relationships, marriages, families, organisations and communities have been destroyed by emotional outburst and vent of the spirit and wounded souls. This lack of self leadership that makes one vulnerable can be clearly seen in expression of anger, malice, envy, lust, greed, hurt tempers and strife. It is not just a problem of the tongue but a sick spirit and polluted soul, for the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. Heart circumcision and harnessing of the soul by renewing the mind are necessary to keep one out of danger. Peace, joy, hope and faith are results of one having rule over his spirit but fear, despair, worry, anxiety, strife, envy, malice are all signs of one’s failure to rule the spirit.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to rule my spirit.
