BIBLE READING : Ecclesiastes 1; 2; 3; 2 Corinthians 11:17-33
“And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun” Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 (KJV).
Although things and activities can give momentary pleasure, they cannot give joy, peace and lasting satisfaction. None of God’s blessings can take the place of God in our lives. As Wonderful as they could be, they cannot replace God or ever compare to the place of God in our lives. Things and activities can complement our lives but only God can truly satisfy.
Lasting joy, enduring hope and genuine peace all flow from a healthy relationship and unbroken communion with God. Most people are busy blindly and foolishly searching for true satisfaction and meaning in alcohol, immorality, in food, in fashion, in money and in all forms of activities but they are often disappointed because none of those things can truly satisfy the longing soul. True and lasting satisfaction is not found in things but in a person, the person of Jesus.
PRAYER: Lord, nothing else can satisfy my longing soul but You.
