…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 31/10/2021

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 22, 23; Titus 1

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” Titus 1:2(KJV)

Our Christian hope must be properly defined. It is only then we can propagate the gospel convincingly and effectively. As it is said hope is the mother of faith. When we say we are Christian it must be a confession that is solidly built on the hope of eternal life. God promise of eternal life for man is in-built on man’s creation. At the beginning of creation man was created in the image and likeness of God. What that presupposes is that God created a spirit man because God is a Spirit. The spirit was clothed with flesh to be able to have control over the physical realm and called man, but being a spirit is eternal. When man sinned his flesh became subject to death. It is that eternal life lost to sin that Christ came to restore back to man as stated in 2 Timothy 1:10(KJV), “But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” Jesus reiterated this during His earthly ministry in John 5:24(KJV), “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

The manifestation of Christ on earth is for the restoration to man that which was lost at Eden which is immortality otherwise known as eternal life. “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40(KJV). When we become free from sin and come under the servanthood of God, living a holy life we inherit eternal life in Christ Jesus. Therefore, eternal life, otherwise known as immortality, is a product of redemption in Christ, living a holy life and being in service for God. “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life” Romans 6:22(KJV). We must be adequately informed in knowledge as it relates to our hope. We must absolutely be sure of this hope which we have in Christ. It is our confidence in hope that will supply us with the boldness to declare our stand in Christ. Our hope in Christ is what will give strength to our faith and patience, continuing diligently in the service of God. “To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.” Romans 2:7(KJV). This is the life more abundantly that Jesus said He has come to give us in John 10:10.

To the reader of this piece, it is only expedient that you receive Christ into your life to become a recipient of the wonderful gift of eternal life from God.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for your redemption plan that brought me into reality with the gift of eternal life.

Bro. Joel Ezeugo
