Bible Reading: Hosea 12, 13, 14; Revelation 4.
Memory Verse: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (KJV).
When you buy a new equipment, you will check the manual to understand how to use it efficiently. Similarly, as human beings, the best way to know your purpose in life is either to go to the creator or his manual of operations which is the Bible. And the manual says in Revelation 4:11 (KJV), “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
God created us for his pleasure. How do we find the pleasure of God? The first thing is to find the characteristics of God himself. He is a just God, loving and righteous. And so pleasing Him will imply doing things that He likes which are being just, loving and righteous amongst others. Seeking His pleasure will involve worshipping Him and this entails honouring Him in everything that we do. Worshipping Him is not only in singing songs unto Him but also living a life that pleases Him. This was summed up in the summary of the commandments which Jesus stated to his followers in Matthew 22:37-39 (KJV), “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Love is at the heart of doing the will of God and such love must be from the heart, soul and mind. So it must come from within, should be focused and involves your strength. Now it’s important that whatever you do, should reflect the love of God in order to please hiym. This love is well explained in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (KJV), “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, [5] Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; [6] Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; [7] Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. [8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
To give God pleasure, which is one of the key purposes why God created human being, you must ensure that your behavior and actions reflect godly love explained above. Do you show patience, kindness, humility while exhibiting your love for God and neighbour.
