“We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions and the garlic;” – Numbers 11:5(NKJV)
The question is why did they cry unto God to free them from the bondage of slavery in Egypt if they had fish cucumber, onions, melons, the leeks and garlic to eat? Exodus 1:13-14(NKJV) “So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor. And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage – in mortar, in bricks, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor”. This scriptural verse does not portray the leisure of eating fish, cucumber and melon. The people cried out to God for deliverance and in Exodus 3:7(NKJV) “And the LORD said “I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows”. The words of the children of Israel in the above scripture is nothing more than an act of ungratefulness. God move to deliver His people but His love was reciprocated with ingratitude. It is no wonder then that His anger was kindled against them. It is no difference today. God sent His son Jesus to die for sin in order to deliver humanity from satanic bondage and oppression. How did human race respond to God’s love? Rejection, ingratitude, despite etc. The world preferred Satan the thief who came to steal, kill and destroy to God’s son who came to give us life and life more abundantly(John 10:10). Please note that God’s anger will again be kindled against the ungratefulness of men, this time by the burning flames of hell. Beware!!!
Prayer: Oh LORD deliver me from ingratitude towards you and your Love. In Jesus Name.
