Bible Reading: Obadiah 1; Revelation 9.
Memory Verse: “For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head. ” Obadiah 1:15 (KJV)
Every farmer knows that whatever he sows, he will reap. If you sow yam, you cannot expect to reap banana. Also if you sew over a plot of land, you cannot expect to reap over an acre. Thus the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:6 (KJV), “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” Thus every farmer knows that he cannot afford to eat his seed that should be sewn. But that his pain at the time of sowing will be rewarded with fruitfulness at harvest. Thus Psalm 126:5 (KJV) says, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” You will reap the fruit of your labor in abundance and in joy in Jesus name.
Similarly, whatever you sow in righteousness you will reap in Joy but whatever you sow in iniquity, you will reap in sorrow. That is why Obadiah 1:15 KJV says “For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.” Thus if you cheat, fornicate, tell lies or steal among similar transgressions, you will end up in hell fire except you quickly retrace your steps and begin to serve God in righteousness. The interesting thing here is that your past is irrelevant what is more important is your present! How is your relationship with the Lord Jesus. Have you accepted him as your Lord and Saviour or are you still deferring on the need to enjoy your life more before submitting to God! No one knows when his time is due except God reveals that to him? And so if you plan to change tomorrow but God decides to call you home today, what happens to your planned change? Thus in Luke 12: 16-20; the rich fool was planning to store his plenteous harvest and thinking he had made it and he should just retire and enjoy the harvest but God recalled him that day and so he had no benefit of enjoying the fruit of his labour! So it’s not worth doing so much to gain worldly treasure and not have a relationship with Jesus.
Are you born again, if not, please accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, confess your sins to him, ask him to forgive your sins and promise not to go back to those sins. If you do this sincerely, Jesus will forgive you and accept you as his child!
Prayer point
Examine your life and identify anything that will make you grieve the Lord. Submit them to him and he will forgive you!
