Bible Reading: Nahum 1, 2, 3; Revelation 14.
Memory Verse: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” Revelation 14:5 (KJV).
Guile is the quality of being good at deceiving people in a clever way. Similar words include cunning, craft, deception and deceit. Psalm 32:2 (KJV) shows the need to avoid guile in our daily living as the Bible says, “Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.” Unfortunately, a number of Christians no longer see guile as a serious sin as they engage in deceit so often that it’s almost part of their life. If you are full of deceit, you can not live a life of holiness and the Bible says in Hebrews 12:14 (KJV), “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
It is important that you watch your tongue and keep it under check through the help of the Holy Spirit as no one who is deceptive can make heaven. Our passage today says the one hundred and forty four thousand who sang a new song (unknown by any other) before the throne of God had not been defiled by anything and they were redeemed from among men (Revelation 14:1-4). They were found to be holy without any fault as stated in Revelation 14:5 (KJV) “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
Have you been deceitful or known for lying even in official matters, that is dangerous and it’s like digging your own grave. Some Christian’s are fond of saying they tell lies or deceive others because it is part of their job in the office. When the day of judgment comes, no one will excuse you because you are working in a particular office. What will count is how well you lived your life in the various segments you operated. Nathaniel was found by Philip and he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to him but Nathaniel was of the view that such a good thing cannot come from Nazareth. (John 1:45-46) But by the time Jesus saw him, he attested to his truthfulness in John 1:47 (KJV), “Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!”
Can Jesus say so concerning you today? It is important to examine your way of life and distance yourself from everything that may be leading you to make deceptive statements. Sometimes such statements are made in order to be politically correct, to avoid punishment or penalty or to be relevant amongst many others. You need to realise that eternity is more important than anything else and should be guarded jealously. We will all finish well in Jesus name.
Prayer point: Whatever will prevent me from making heaven, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, remove it far away from me.
