Bible Reading: Zechariah 1, 2, 3, 4; Revelation 18.
Memory Verse: “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” Zechariah 2:5 (KJV).
Fire is dreaded by many because of its impact on anything it touches. Fire can destroy as it is the case when Elijah called down fire on the soldiers that came to arrest him in 2 Kings 1:12 (KJV), “And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.”
Fire can purify by removing impurities; thus, silver and gold are subject to intensive heat by fire in order to make them shine brightly. Malachi 3:3 (KJV) says, “And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.”
Fire can also be a wall of defence. When it surrounds anything or anyone, you are sure of complete safety as no one will be ready to go through fire to reach you. Example is Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego who were thrown into the fire and instead of being burnt, the fire became their shield and defence as Jesus joined them in the middle of the fire, and the fire did not burn them. That is the beauty of the fire being your defence, it will not burn you but will consume any intruder that wants to break into your wall of fire as we saw in the case of the three Hebrew boys.
But you can only have fire as your wall of defence if God decides to do that for you. God said so about Jerusalem in Zechariah 2:5 (KJV), “For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.” When God does this for you, your family, business or nation, you will not need to fear anything or anyone. You will do your business or job in an atmosphere of utmost security though physically, people may not see any protection. But God will be there for you and you will thus prosper on all sides. No wonder the Bible says in Matthew 6:33 (KJV), “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” So all you need to have this wall of protection is to seek God first in everything you do. Ensure you honour God with your time, talents and resources including relationships and you will see God giving you invisible protection which men cannot penetrate.
Prayer point: Father, give me the grace to seek you first in every area of my life and build your wall of fire round me in Jesus name.
