Bible Reading: Genesis 29-30, Matthew 10:1-23
“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” Matthew 10:1(KJV)
Long before Jesus’ arrival on earth man submitted to the rulership of the wicked one. God said of man in Genesis 6:5 (KJV), “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” The thought patterns of man was badly influenced by this wicked ruler.
When Jesus came His first message was recorded in Matthew 4:17 (KJV), “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” To repent here is to change your way of thinking. And it requires more than mere words to bring this to reality after many years of devilish thoughts holding sway. It requires power.
Psalm 66:3 (KJV) says, “Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.” Only power from God can effect changes in the system. Without this power the disciples’ messages will not sail through. The power is first needed to take over the atmosphere and then practical manifestation in signs and wonders. Jesus tells them in Matthew 10:7-8 (KJV), “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
Jesus’ death and resurrection has made permanent the power needed to cleanse the whole world. Disciples of Jesus today still manifest that power and authority from God. The aim of this power is to displace the devil in the physical to manifest the reality of Jesus’ finished work. Come to Jesus today if you are yet to and let Him cleanse you of all that has held you down.
Prayer: Father, let Your power continually be made manifest in the world in Jesus name.
