Bible Reading: Genesis 33-35, Matthew 11
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Matthew 11:4-5 KJV
One of the most important question in life is, why am I here on earth? The earlier you ask yourself this question and search for the answer, the better. God never does anything without a reason; He created you and me for a purpose. Have you discovered yours?
John the Baptist knew the purpose why he came to the earth. He said in Matthew 3:3 (KJV), “For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” John is one of the most important persons in the bible because he was the only one God revealed Jesus to. The bible puts it this way in John 1:29-30, 33-34 (KJV), “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.[ 30] This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. [33] And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. [34] And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” He pointed Jesus out.
Jesus, too, came with a purpose. He was operating in the centre of that purpose when the disciples of John, sent by their master asked him, “… art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?” Matthew 11:3 (KJV). His answer was very clear, “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Matthew 11:5 (KJV).
Somebody once said, “when purpose is not known abuse is inevitable.” God has given us so many gifts and talents for a reason; If you don’t find out your purpose you may misuse that gift and talent. He not only wants you to use that gift but to use it faithfully like Jesus and his forerunner, John the Baptist, in advancing the kingdom of God. Discover your purpose today and live a fulfilled life on earth.
Action Plan: To discover your purpose begin to take note of what God has exposed you to through His word. The ability He has given you and things He has exposed you to through His word will lead you into the centre of His plan for you.
