Bible Reading: Exodus 19-21; Matthew 20:1-16
“Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?” Matthew 20:5-6 (KJV)
The parable of the householder with vineyards who went out to hire labourers points out some characteristics of God that we must learn from. In the memory verse He went out at different hours, even till the eleventh hour to hire labourers. This is in line with what the scriptures say that He wants all men saved and does not desire any to be destroyed. There is an harvest and a great one at that, and workers are needed.
His continually going out for labourers points out how important God values His creations. There is so much work to be done and yet a lot of people are standing idle! There is an harvest that must be gathered before it is ruined so no matter the hours of work put in based on when you are employed, He is satisfied.
Every labourer on the vineyard got there by privilege given by God Himself, not on their own merit. So never you see yourself as better or more worthy than anyone else in the kingdom. Remember, God sees directly into your heart and can tell the intention behind any action you take.
Lastly, no man can question God with respect to how He rewards His labourers. He does not reward His labourer the way man does.. Matthew 20:15a (KJV) puts His reply towards those questioning His repayment style, “Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own?“ In fact, His reward style should be accepted as good before our sight. Only then can He reveal to you the love behind it.
Prayer: Thank You Father for giving me the opportunity and privilege of service in Your kingdom.
