…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 02/04/2022

Bible Reading: Judges 8-9; Luke 8:22-56.

Memory Verse: “Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren: And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.” Judges 9:56-57 (KJV)

Several years ago, I met a Christian brother who was having a challenge paying his children school fees and he came to our office to get a short term facility to pay it. On learning of it, I ensured it was granted him and after a while, he had challenges paying the balance and I paid it and asked him not to bother anymore. He appreciated it greatly and went his way. Several years later, my business was having serious liquidity challenges and this same brother had excess cash for investment. He saw my partner somewhere and asked of me. Then he came looking for me and he thanked me again for the favour I did several years earlier and deposited some money with us inspite of telling him of the liquidity challenges we were having. He further introduced others to deposit money with us thus reducing the liquidity pressure on our business. At the time I helped him, I did not imagine I could need his help but times do change.

When God says, we should give and it shall be given unto us, it is the truth which also works the other way. So, if you give evil things to people, be assured that you will reap yours someday. Thus when Abimelechi killed the seventy children of his father ( Judges 9:4-5), God recompensed him. Judges 9:56-57 (KJV), “Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren: [57] And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.”

God is not a respecter of persons rather he is a just God who ensures you reap the fruit of your labor. What type of seed are you sewing in your place of work, in your family, in the house of God and in your environment? Remember, for Shechem supporting the evil of Abimelech, God recompensed them! The Bible says in Galatians 6:7 (KJV), “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” You cannot escape the reward for your actions, so always consider the consequences of any action before taking it.

Prayer point: Father, please give me the grace to sow only good seeds for the rest of my life in Jesus Christ’s name.
