BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 1-2, LUKE 22: 54-71
Memory Verse: “And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.” 1 Kings 2:3 (KJV).
One of the greatest desires of man is the quest to succeed and prosper. Man has always looked for ways to enjoy prosperity and this has led so many, even some Christians, to indulge in various activities sometimes negative, all so they can be seen as prosperous. The search for true prosperity can only end when man finds God. God has not left us without laid down guidelines that will lead us to true prosperity since it is his desire that we enjoy all round prosperity. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” 3 John 1:2 (KJV).
Prosperity is not only in wealth even though it is part of it. Seeking only wealth at the expense of one’s soul will only lead to grave errors. King David in his final message to his son Solomon, instructed him to keep the charge of the Lord, walk in His ways, keep his statutes and commandments, judgements and testimonies as it is written if he desires to prosper. In God’s word abounds all we need to truly prosper. As long as we follow the Lord and do his will, true prosperity becomes our portion in what we do and wherever we go. He indeed is our source, supplier and sustainer.
Prayer: Lord, help me to do your will alone so I may be prosperous.
