BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 8-9, LUKE 23: 39-56
Memory Verse: “And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst”. Luke 23:45 (KJV).
The death of Jesus gifted mankind with a lot of blessings. First Christ came for the salvation of mankind but that wasn’t all his sacrifice came to offer. His death, burial and resurrection brought a full package in which we have salvation from sin, deliverance from satanic oppression, healing of sicknesses, destruction from curses, all round prosperity and much more. But from the scripture we read, we can see another great gift, the gift of unhindered access to the Father.
God has always desired close fellowship with man. He created man for his pleasure. This was demonstrated by his constant visit to man at the Garden of Eden.
In the book of Genesis, He had direct conversations with men before the time of Moses and soon moved into communication through priests and prophets. In the Old Testament days and prior to Jesus’ death, man had to go to the temple and speak through a medium to reach God. The temple had a veil that one couldn’t go beyond but at the death of Jesus, the veil was torn into two. This was the Father saying “no more restrictions, no more hindrances, you can now come to me directly”. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4:16 (KJV).
Jesus’ death has given us access to the Father whereby we can now come directly to Him, have fellowship and enjoy every blessing. In our time of need, we must remember we have a Father who is always reachable and does not need a mediator to be talked to. Today, develop your fellowship with Him. He is waiting for you.
Prayer: Father, thank you for the gift of access. I therefore come boldly to obtain mercy and grace.
