“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them”. – 2 Corinthians 4:4(KJV)
It takes the Holy Spirit to convince people to believe in the redemptive work of Christ and repent of their wicked ways. Satan is the god of this world. It takes the grace of God for anyone to be saved seeing that Satan has blinded their mind with falsehood. Opportunity for repentance is only for the living. The moment an individual dies that opportunity to repent and be saved is gone forever. Sometimes when you are presenting this great truth to people they treat you with so much scorn and despise. They do not know that they have been taken captive by the prince of the air. We were once there but the saving grace of God found us. The state of man without Christ is vividly described by Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:2-3(KJV), “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desire of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others”. This was the state of the rich man before he died and the state of his brothers that were alive as seen in our daily bible reading of today. In his desperation having experience the agonizing state of abode after death, he pleaded to Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his brothers. He realizes that it was too late for him so he wanted at least to help his brothers that were on earth. What a terrible disappointment! Today we have seen people who died and claimed they were sent back to preach the gospel, how many people have believed them and repented? It is my prayer that if you are reading this piece but you are yet to repent, that the Holy Spirit will remove the enemies veil from your eyes so you can read and understand the redemption package that Jesus Christ offers to humanity. My dear reader, I pray that you escape before it is too late.
Prayer: Gracious and Eternal Father I pray that whosoever that is reading this short exhortation be touched by the Holy Spirit for a change of heart in Jesus Name.
