BIBLE READING: 2 KINGS 4-5, JOHN 4: 1-30
Memory Verse: “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”. John 4:14 (KJV).
The woman of Samaria had lived life on the wrong path all in the quest for fulfillment. So it is with mankind. Man has always had that desire within that craves to be quenched. For some it is wealth, love, family, academic success, titles, recognitions, achievements etc. every natural man grows up to discover a yearning within. For instance why would a woman be with up to five husbands? What was she looking for? She was empty within and needed to be satisfied. Sadly many people are in this category. People engage in 9 to 5 jobs daily; do everything within and even beyond their reach to find fulfillment and satisfaction; only to discover that the pleasures of life are momentary. Only Jesus can truly satisfy.
The way to be truly satisfied is to truly seek Jesus. In him we live, move and have our being. Matthew 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. Physical water cannot quench our thirst. It will only suffice for a while and then it comes again but our Master Jesus says in our memory verse that only the living water can make us not thirst again. “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”. Matthew 5:6 (KJV). Jesus in a man’s life ends thirst because the living water inside him will become an eternal well of living water.
We need more of Jesus in our lives. The more we have of him, the more satisfied we get.
Everything one can ever desire is in him. “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell”. Colossians 1:19 (KJV). He only desires that we drink till we are full. The sacrifice of Jesus is all that is ever needed for our salvation, deliverance, healing, and victorious life here on earth. He has freely given us all things but your receiving is highly dependent on how thirsty you are to drink of him. How thirsty are you?
Prayer: Lord I am thirsty for you. Fill me up.
