BIBLE READING: 2 KINGS 15-17; JOHN 6:1-21

Memory Verse: “But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid”. John 6:20 (KJV)

One of the greatest enemies of the believer is fear. It is the opposite of faith and is responsible for many failures in the life of a believer. It is a very subtle weapon used by the enemy to introduce doubts to our heart thereby bringing God into disrepute. Proverbs 29:12 (KJV) says “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Fear is capable of making one who is to be a master, become a slave. Fear entraps and keeps one at a spot for a long time but if you can overcome fear and introduce faith, you can weather any storm.

Jesus knew the importance of dealing with fear, as we see in Mark 4: 40 (KJV), “And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” Fear only magnifies problems whereas the believer is meant to be a solution to problems around him. The disciples were afraid when they saw Him thinking it was a ghost but he reassured them.

Jesus keeps reminding us to discard fear and move in the faith realm; the realm of possibilities. Jesus did not promise us a hitch-free experience but rather his unwavering presence through the storm. Whatever it is you are going through, be calm and hear his voice saying “do not be afraid”.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen my faith and banish fear totally out of my life.
