BIBLE READING: 2 KINGS 23-25, JOHN 7: 1-31
Memory verse: “And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;” 2 Kings 25:27 (KJV)
The life of the believer is one that should be filled with divine favour. Divine favour is the attracting power of blessings on a man who God pleases to bless. Every man needs divine favour. Favour can deliver to you in a day what years of labour cannot. Out of all the virgins at the time, only one was chosen and favoured to birth our savior and that changed her life for good. “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God” Luke 1:30 (KJV). While work is good and encouraged, yet it is better to live in a realm of favour with God and man. Even our master operated in divine favour. “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Luke 2:52 (KJV)
The king Jehoiachin was in captivity for thirty seven years and God favoured him using the king of Babylon. Look at this … this happened in the first year of the new king and another interesting thing is the name of the king. Someone whose name has “evil” attached to it yet was chosen by God to lift up Jehoiachin out of prison, restored and promoted him, and set him on a continual allowance for life. Hallelujah! This means that God can use anyone to favour his children.
Remember Haman in the book of Esther 6? How he plotted evil against Mordecai but God overturned it and he was now the one who announced Mordecai. That’s divine favour at work. May that be our portion in Jesus name, Amen.
Prayer: Lord, let your favour rest on me now.
