BIBLE READING: 1 CHRONICLES 8-10, JOHN 8: 37-59
Memory verse: “Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. John 8:42 (KJV)
From the beginning of the world up until now, there has been a great tussle; a tussle of ownership and control between God and the devil; the spirit and the flesh; with the enemy trying to assert his authority over God. The devil has always and still continues to seek to take control of everything God has created. From the Garden of Eden, he deceived Eve with the question “has God said”? And man chose to disobey God. Man unknowingly fell and lost his place in God, brought himself under the control of the devil and sin took over. Since then, it has become a matter of choice and all through history God has had men who have chosen to stand for righteousness while the enemy has also recruited men for his evil works.
Today even in the church, it is becoming very difficult to differentiate between God’s own and the enemy’s cohorts. Reason being that the spirit of deception is highly at work. “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” 2 Corinthians 11:14 (KJV). We now have many miracle workers who claim to be of God but they are agents of the enemy on a mission to deceive as many as possible. This is why it has become very needful to know who is who. The time has come for us to know who is really on the Lord’s side and the bible says “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” Matthew 7:20 (KJV).
One way to know a father’s son is his love for his father and how he obeys his father. You are the son of who you obey. Your love for the Lord tells us that God is your father. Under whose control are you?
Prayer: Lord I dedicate my life to you. I am yours alone forever.
