BIBLE READING: 2 CHRONICLES 1-3, JOHN 12: 1-19
Memory verse: “Give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people that is so great?” 2 Chronicles 1:10 (KJV)
Life is a mystery. Many of life’s challenges come as difficult puzzles which put many in confusion. It could be likened to a game of chess. A right move will advance one to a better place while a wrong move will plunge one into deeper levels of hardship. The world we find ourselves in is full of traps seeking to ensnare and devour the believer and with each passing day, we are faced with situations that if we are not careful, we will fall prey to the enemy. This, calls for carefulness and wisdom, the right application of knowledge to achieve good. When faced with critical decisions that could make or mar you, you need wisdom to navigate. Wisdom helps you apply relevant knowledge in an insightful way to solve life’s challenges. “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:” Proverbs 24:3 (KJV).
Solomon, the new king, realized that to lead the people of Israel, he needed wisdom. And when God gave him a blank cheque to ask for anything, he quickly asked for wisdom. No wonder he wrote in Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) that “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. Later on we can see the impact of his request when he wisely found out the real mother of the child that was being contended for by two women. That judgment alone caused the people to be in awe and it was a proof of divine wisdom on King Solomon. “And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.” 1 Kings 3:28 (KJV).
The sure way to be able to discern and navigate through life’s difficult mazes is through wisdom and the beautiful thing about this is that we have a God who is wisdom Himself and He gives to as many that ask of him. Solomon asked and he received. If you too desire for it and ask for it you will receive. You need wisdom in decision making in the areas of business, marriage, finance, investment, ministry, choice of career, and many other things. You will discover that so many things we struggle about are just things that wisdom can take care of. Wisdom is profitable to direct. That’s why we are admonished to get wisdom. “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it”. Proverbs 8:11 (KJV)
So how can one get this wisdom? The answer is in Proverbs 9:10 (KJV) which says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding”. Also Proverbs 2:6 (KJV) tells us, “For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding”. God is the giver of wisdom and he gives to whom he pleases. If you ask of him today, he will give to you. Wisdom places you in control. You become a man sought after. Nations will begin to seek your presence just so they can hear from you. A wise man is always a treasure. Do you need wisdom? Let us pray.
Prayer: Father, bestow on me your wisdom that I may be a blessing to my world.
