“Remember Lot’s wife”. Luke 17:32 (KJV)
It is timely to discuss Lot’s wife. Who is Lot’s wife? Why is her example very necessary for us to consider? During their escape from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah the angels instructed Lot and his family not to look back in their flight. However, Lot’s wife looked back and was turned to a pillar of salt. The reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah was because of the grievousness of the sin of that twin city of evil. (Genesis 18:20). Atrocity like homosexuality was practiced in these cities. It was so bad that the men of the city craved and lusted after the angels of God that were on mission to destroy the city. For a pious individual, there should be nothing to look back to in Sodom. But that was not so with Lot’s wife; she longed after the life in Sodom and went against the instruction of the angels of God, and she paid dearly for it. The experience of Lot’s wife is very crucial for us to consider today in our Christian pursuit. How many of us genuinely repented and left the worldly pleasures completely? We have gone out to bring worldliness into the church. The church now imitates the people of the world in the pretense of reaching out. Jesus said “No man, having put his hand on the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62(KJV)
The church has opened its hand wide to receive ungodly lifestyle, dressing, behavior etc. The church has become a den of thieves, robbers now hide in the church to commit atrocities, and harlots have comfort zone in the church. All type of worldly dressing imported from the pit of hell have found their way into the church. Bizarre haircuts, obnoxious behavior have become the order of the day. Modern day Nazarene’s (men with weaved hair) are now choir masters in church. Excessive freedom has crept into the body of Christ. The old time religion that was built on the old rugged cross would never have condone these ungodly lifestyles. These lousy lifestyle would never have dared come near to the gathering of God’s people, but is so today. While acknowledging the fact that great spiritual revival is sweeping across the land, we must also admit that the mystery of iniquity is much at work. Romans 12:1-2ä(KJV) says “I beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: …“. Are we conforming or transforming in this age of Christianity? Have we over modernize Christianity? These questions seek individual answers. Let us leave the world and its pleasure completely if we must run theis race undefiled. Don’t be like LOT’S wife.
It is my prayer that you will not miss the flight to heaven at the appearance of Christ to take His own home.
Prayer: Father give me the grace to run my Christian race undefiled and successfully in Jesus Name.
