Bible Reading: Psalm 28-30; Acts 21:1-14.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song I will praise him” Psalm 28:7(KJV)
When we trust God wholeheartedly, He will always be available to help us. No one is more qualified than King David to attest to this. His unalloyed trust in God and His ability was a major secret for his great exploits and victory over his enemies. By his complete trust in God he can boldly say that the LORD is his strength. As a sheep he placed absolute trust in God to always be there to deliver him. The aftermath effect of the help of God in delivering and giving us victory over the foe is a burst-forth praise from the depth of our heart. Our hold on God on the platform of trust will always generate divine intervention on our behalf. The Almighty is mindful of the life of those who put their trust in Him, hence the Psalmist can boldly say the LORD is my strength and shield, which represent a formidable deliverance from any attack of the enemy. God’s help is a product of His favour generated by our implicit trust in His power and ability.
We have very many instances of God’s help to people in the scriptures. When the two and half tribe of Reuben, Gad and half the tribe of Manasseh made war against the Hagarites, Jetur, Nephish and Nodab the bible records in I Chronicles 5:20(KJV), “And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, for they cried to God in battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him” Why were they helped? Because they put their trust in God. Trusting God attracts His favour which can come in form of help. The bible recorded that Uzziah sought God in the days of Zechariah who had understanding in the visions of God, and God helped him against the Philistines and the Arabians. In 2 Chronicles 26:15b(KJV) the scripture says, “And his name spread far abroad, for he was marvelously helped, till he became strong.” When we are helped of God, we begin to experience supernatural enablement. We become recipients of divine strength and the Almighty becomes our defence. The help of God raises us to become superhuman and releases upon us fame and recognition.
From the above treatise it is clear that the help of God is a product of favour generated by wholehearted trust in God and His ability. However, you cannot trust whom you don’t know or believe in. The first step in trusting God is to believe in His son whom He sent to pay the price of our sin. Secondly, you must accept Him as your Lord and Saviour and seek His power to live above sin. These are vital steps that leads to trusting God. Jesus said in John 14:6(KJV), “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me”.
Dear reader, it is imperative that you accept Christ in your life and trust Him enough to handover your entire being to Him. The bible says in 2 Thessalonians 3:3(KJV), “But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” That is what it means by been helped of God.
Prayer: Gracious and eternal God, I submit my entire being to you trusting you wholeheartedly to preserve me from all evil.
