Bible Reading: Psalm 82-84; Romans 8:19-39.
Memory Verse: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (KJV)
Have you ever taken time to ponder over the love of God for his children? Let’s start by looking at the decision of God to forgive everyone his or her sin by making his own son, Jesus Christ to take on the sins. (Romans 3:25). That leaves everyone that comes to Jesus Christ for forgiveness, sinless! Not only this, the same Lord Jesus Christ is in heaven on the right hand of God advocating for mercy for everyone that calls on him. ( 1 John 2:1)
Thirdly, the love of God is so much for everyone that surrenders his life to Christ such that nothing can stop Him from loving you. Apostle Paul puts it succinctly in Romans 8:38-39 (KJV), “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So only a defiant child will continue to disobey such a loving God. That also shows a high level of ingratitude. And whenever you commit a sin, you are defying the love of God. Such defiance is similar to crucifying Jesus Christ on the cross again. It’s important to note that while such crimes as murder, robbery, adultery are not expected of true disciples of Jesus, sins like lying, not taking care of the needy when you have the capacity to do so, victimizing someone in the office because of your position, using companies assets without proper authority, aiding stealing, extorting money from contractors or others to provide a service or diverting company’s business for personal gain are also ways of defying the love of God. In whatever ways are you defying his love, you can repent and make amendment today. He is ready and willing to take you back as long as you sincerely repent of such sins and make up your mind to forsake them going forward.
Action Point:
Examine your life and identify areas you are defying the love of God . Then make up your mind to repent and forsake such things and seek the face of God for mercy.
