Bible Reading: Psalm 99-102; Romans 13.
Memory Verse: “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” Psalm 100:5 (KJV)
When a child is about to learn how to walk, he will try standing up and after several falls, finally is able to stand up. Then he tries to move taking one or two baby steps. In the process, he also falls a number of times but he continues the learning process until he is able to move short distances and later extended to longer distances. The parent or guardian of the child watches over the learning process and encourages him to learn from his few mistakes and finally grow to master the art of walking. The parent/guardian naturally shows love all through the learning process and is often eager to ensure the baby masters the learning process.
For a child in our analysis above, it may take a few months to graduate but a few exceptions may take far longer. A loving parent will not abandon the exceptional child because of elongated learning process, rather he will encourage him to go through the process.
The role of a loving parent in guarding a child to walk is similar to that of God Almighty when a man/woman is learning to walk with Him. There may be a few or several mistakes/sins, but God is always willing to show love to that person and expect him/her to move to a higher level of walking with him. Where the person is slow in learning and/or does not give enough time, it may take a lot of fumbling and wobbling before getting to know God that well.
In all cases, God is more patient and willing to give more time and encouragement for the person to learn even better than the earthly parent does to a child learning to walk used as an example above. Jesus Christ gave an analogy of how God loves his children more than the earthly parents in Luke 11:11-13 (KJV) when Jesus said, “If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? [12] Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? [13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
God is always ready to give whatever you ask provided it is good for you and in line with His plan for your life. Hence Matthew 7:7 (KJV) reiterates, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” All these are born by God because he is merciful and shows love to those that need such even if they had gone through this process before. His mercy is forever; Psalm 100:5 (KJV) says clearly, “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” All you need to do is to show remorse concerning your wrong doing, make up your mind not to go back to such anymore and call on God for mercy.
Prayer point: Father, have mercy on me and give me the grace to please you always in Jesus mighty name.
