Bible Reading: Psalm 103-104; Romans 14.
Memory Verse: “I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.” Romans 14:14 (KJV)
It is generally said that your attitude determines your altitude. However your attitude is a product of your mind. The issue is what do you store in your mind?
You need to constantly examine yourself that you store what is positive and godly in your mind. If it is not, then do not ruminate over it in your mind, just do away with it. Also If you believe that something is not good, then you should not do it because if you do, you will be working against your conscience and it will amount to sinning. This explains why Apostle Paul says whatever your mind, as a child of God, tells you concerning an object or event is important for your action as your mind is your first judge. In Romans 14:14 (KJV), he says, “I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.” When your mind, as a child of God, tells you something is unclean, then you should run away from it because the Spirit of God lives in you and communicates with your spirit.
In the same vein, you should be mindful of what you allow in your mind. The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7 (KJV), “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” If you train your mind to think holiness all the time, it’s a matter of time, you will see yourself moving towards living in holiness. The converse is also true!. And for secular business, when you choose and determine that you will accomplish a goal, it’s a matter of time, if you do not change your mind, you will be there.
This is why Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 14:22-23 (KJV), “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. [23] And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” Your mind is a powerful tool that can be used to accomplish whatsoever you desire to be in life. All you need is to truly belief in yourself, be diligent and focused in your thought and actions. And your words will also be in line with your thoughts as the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. If you are saying things that do not lineup with your aspirations, quickly examine your thoughts and you will find that you are harboring things that are against your desire. In such a case, make deliberate effort to choose what goes into your mind by choosing what you watch, read, discuss and think about. Let them align with your goals and then pray to the Almighty God and you will be pleasantly surprised at your result.
However, remember your conscience will be godly only if you are born again. If not, you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour so that the Spirit of God can come into you and you will then be able to call on him and be sure he will answer.
Prayer point: Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, please renew my mind so that my life will align with Your perfect will for my life.
