Bible Reading: Psalm 105-106; Romans 15:1-21.
Memory Verse: “That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 105:45 (KJV)
Generally, Praise is an expression of approval, admiration and/or gratitude. However, Praising God is essentially expressing your gratitude to Him for all He has done for you, what He is doing and what He will do. Praising God is a command from God and the Bible is full of such instructions. In Psalm 105; the Psalmist reminded Israelites how God saved them from famine, then from the oppression of the Egyptians and from hunger, thirst, sicknesses and diseases while in the wilderness and finally brought them to the land of Canaan before asking them to praise the Lord. Indeed, they ought to praise God without being reminded for what God had done for them.
However, you are possibly in the same boat today. God kept watching over you day by day from all forms of evil and has brought you to the present day. I am in the same boat as I remember how God has saved me from different situations that could have ended my life.
I remember in my younger days while I was still in modern school, I was watching a football game beside our house. I was excited at a time and forgot that the wooden ladder I was sitting on was not well rested. It gave way and I fell on a long nail which pierced my thigh and I lost consciousness, I was rushed to the hospital and was resuscitated there! God chose to save me!
I don’t know your own story but I know God would have saved you on many occasions like me including when shame was averted for you. Maybe you need to recount them. Whichever case, you will realize that you have several reasons to praise God continually. That is why a common song says: Count your blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done ….
God wants you to praise Him always and He stated this much in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV) “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Action Point: Please express your gratitude to God by praising Him lovingly this morning.
