Bible Reading: Psalm 128-131; 1 Corinthians 7:25-40.
Memory Verse: “Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord ; that walketh in his ways.” Psalm 128:1 (KJV).
The Almighty God created heavens and the earth and everything within them. He can do all things and is not limited by anything. He confirmed this to Abraham in Genesis 17:1 (KJV), “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” If you believe that the one who created this complex world with all the things in it is Almighty God, then you need to fear Him. That indicates that He can do all things and can alter anything about anyone including you. He says of his mightiness in Deuteronomy 32:39 (KJV), “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”
He is the one who can suspend the natural laws, which we take for granted. Joshua prayed to Him that sun should stand still and the moon stayed and God answered him ( Joshua 10:12-13). He says with Him nothing is impossible as He does the seemingly impossible without any limit. Thus he asked that the Red Sea be dried for a season and it was, instantly! and when He decided otherwise, He asked that the sea should be filled again and it was so (Exodus 14: 21-28). This is one of the reasons why you should fear God. He can make and unmake you. But in addition to these experiences, it is a command. Revelation 14:7 (KJV) states, “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
If you truly fear God, then you will obey Him and if you do so, God has great promises for you. Psalm 128:1 (KJV) says, “Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.” The following verses of the same chapter further list some of the blessings of fearing God. First is that it will be well with you, you will be happy and your work will be blessed. It is amazing that several people are praying for the blessing of their work when all they need to do is to fear God and walk in His ways. Secondly, He will bless your home such that your family will be filled with joy of the Lord continually (Psalm 128:3). Even your community will be a conducive environment for you and that means total peace all around you. ( Psalm 128:5).
Action point: Do you fear God? If not, amend your ways today and call on God for mercy.
