Bible Reading: Psalm 132-135; 1 Corinthians 8.
Memory Verse: “And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.” 1 Corinthians 8:2 (KJV)
“A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.” Proverbs 29:23 KJV. Pride shows a person is not a true child of God because you can only be proud if you see yourself as being better, higher, bigger or more honourable than others. This is what caused king Nebuchadnezzar to become an animal right from his throne. “The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” Daniel 4:30 (KJV). Right from there, he was driven from men and he did eat grass as oxen (Daniel 4:33 ).
If you recognize that whatever you have is given to you by God, then you will realise that you have no basis to be proud because God can give more either to you or to someone else. “And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know” 1 Corinthians 8:2 KJV. No wonder the Psalmist says, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over” Psalm 23:5 (KJV). The cup runs over to show there is more from the source and that source is God. He can always give more so why are you puffed up on the little He has filled you with?
Besides, your life is transient and so you cannot hold unto whatever you have forever. After some years on earth, you will have to leave them behind. So it is important that you use that knowledge for the improvement of your life, home, business, environment, community and the world at large before you leave this world. Besides you will be held accountable for every resource you are given to know how well you use it for the purpose intended. (Matthew 25:14-28)
That is why it’s important that you show love in everything that you have. The reality again is that you can always get more, know more, do more, achieve more in any area if you humble yourself before God.
Action Point: How impactful are you making the knowledge God has given you or the position he has placed you?
