Bible Reading: Psalm 136-138; 1 Corinthians 9.
Memory Verse: “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV).
One of the virtues of a good disciple is spreading the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to others. This is actually a command by the Lord and it is stated in Mark 16:15 (KJV), “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
So every Christian is expected to preach the gospel to unbelievers to win them to Christ. It is important to note that the methods adopted in various climes may differ but the objective remains the same, which is to win people to Christ. The recent Coronavirus has changed the way a lot of things are done including preaching the gospel. Thus, the once prevailing method of personal evangelism in our environment may no longer be sustained now due to reduction in personal contacts but the social media can now be explored to reach so many. The beauty of this is that the usage of the social media has grown substantially and this makes reaching people all over the world a lot easier. It is left for each to determine a target audience and design evangelistic materials to suit them. It is, however, important that the evangelism should give room for follow up so that specific issues can be addressed based on individual’s peculiarity.
However, as stated in the word meditation of Monday, 22nd August, preaching the gospel is not in word but in power of the Holy Spirit. It is imperative that prayers be rendered before any evangelism so that the message will be filled with the power of God. It is that power that will convict the audience. In addition, you need to be ready to waive your right in order to preach the gospel. You should be ready for a life of sacrifice to be able to reach some audience as done by Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 9:4-15).
Lastly, it is critical that you do a regular check up of your life and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that you are still in the faith and do as stated in 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV), “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” God Almighty will watch over you and empower you as you spread the good news to others. He will ensure that only good news will emanate from your household in Jesus Christ’s mighty name.
Prayer Point:
Father, help me to finish my Christian race well and strong in Jesus mighty name.
