Bible Reading: Proverbs 13-14; 1 Corinthians 16
Memory verse: “Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 (KJV)
Just as the world was created by the word of God and is sustained by the same word of God, so also the church of Christ was born out of love and will only be sustained by love. The love of God made Him send His Son, Jesus Christ to come redeem man. Jesus too, out of love, left His place in heaven to be ridiculed and ultimately killed by the same people who He created. Yet, He never held any grudge against any man but makes intercession for us till this day.
God is the source of true love. 1 John 4:7-8 (KJV), “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love.” Love is what makes God mindful of man every day. It seeks the best of man, never counting or holding his sins against him and lots more. Love is the compassion and commitment to see the best of God manifest from a person. All men are created for a purpose far greater than you can ever see, regardless of their behaviour at the moment. Only in love can we endure to see these potentials manifested.
The church is a wonderful place because each and every one was borne out of love. Our tribe, race, color, etc are not enough to separate us. Whether educated or not, you have a place in the church. Remember, the men who Jesus left in charge of the church were not learned men (Acts 4:13). The coming together of these different people can only be sustained and effective by the power of love. Love brings the best out of people and ultimately glorify God because “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; [5] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; [6] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; [7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
The love of God has already been poured out on us by the Spirit of God (Romans 5:5) but we must be intentional about walking in it for it to be effective in our lives. If you seek to do all you do in love you will be backed by God Himself who is love.
Action point: Take a look at all you do from Church to the secular. Find out what is behind it all. If it is not love then you need to examine yourself again.
