Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 4-6, 2 Corinthians 13
Memory verse: “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” 2 Corinthians 13:8 (NKJV)
Truth is God’s word any day any time. Whether you believe it or not, truth is truth. It does not change. But has the power to change you. To an individual, truth is the word of God captured in the heart of that individual.
Truth has the power to set free. Jesus said in John.8.32 (NKJV), “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The truth has the inherent capacity to set one free. But this freedom only comes when truth is captured by the heart of an individual. The Corinthian church was not walking in line with the truth of God’s word making Paul’s visit there of utmost importance. He wants them to repent from any ongoing sin in their lives and turn back to true devotion to Christ. Doing so would be evidence of legitimate faith in Jesus and proof of his true standing as an apostle of Christ. If they believe in the true gospel, then the one who introduced them to Christ must also be true in his teachings.
Jesus is the truth the scripture talks about. He is the word of God. The earlier you take Him into your heart the better as He begins to reveal things to you that will liberate you from whatever has held you bound making you go back to sinful ways like the Corinthian church. Only the truth of God’s word can save anyone in sin. The more you go against the word of God, the more one is deep in sin. But as one obeys the word, the more we become free from the besetting sins in our lives.
