“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” – Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
We can have confidence, without a single doubt, that God is constantly at work in us and through us. Through the work of the Holy Spirit that dwells within all of us believers, He convicts us of sin, helps us, shapes us, and molds us so that we are constantly being made to reflect more of Christ. We understand from 2 Corinthians 3:18, that “ we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.“
As we spend time each day reading the Bible, praying, attending services, singing spiritual songs in worship and praise to God, or listening to gospel messages, God is constantly doing an internal work in our lives by drawing us into a deeper relationship with Him. He is transforming us on the inside so that we reflect more of Him on the outside.
It was God’s grace that began the good work in you and me. His good work began the moment you felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit that you were lost in your sins and took the step of faith, to surrender your life to Christ, and His grace made you a child of God. But just becoming a Christian and born again does not complete the Christian experience. God wants to have an intimate and personal relationship with you and so he continues the work that began at salvation to build you into that masterpiece He created you to be.
This “good work” is what God has began in us and he will keep working on us towards perfection. Because “the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)
Prayer: Father, perfect your good work that you have began in me.
