Bible Reading: Isaiah 48-49; Colossians 4
Memory verse: “Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together.” Isaiah 48:13 (NKJV)
Many people serve many gods; some serve wood, others stone and several other created things. I often wonder what goes on in the mind of suchlike ones when they bow and do obeisance to created things which are far below them.
The creator Himself has on different occasions expressed surprise, anger and even jealousy over our actions as regards worship. Yet, man still continue to worship things on a daily basis. What or who do you worship, and why?
Worship is meant for the one who created the heavens and the earth. Hear Him in Isaiah 48:13 (KJV), ‘Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together.” God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning (Genesis 1:1). He was even before the heavens and the earth! He created the beautiful world we live in and then created man to have dominion over the creations. Everything in the world answers to Him.
We worship God because it is the main reason He created us. Our worship gives Him pleasure. Dominion will only be experienced by those who worship Him. A complete devotion to any other being or thing amounts to Idolatry. This displeases Him.
Prayer: Dear Father, give me a heart of worship for the rest of my life.
