Bible Reading: Isaiah 50-52; 1 Thessalonians 1
Memory verse: “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” 1 Thessalonians 1:5 (KJV)
Since the fall of man from the beginning, he has been under the power or influence of the evil one. Satan rightly used this power over man because it was given unto him by the first man, Adam, when he sinned.
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to come to set man free from the hold of Satan, the devil. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ sealed the reign of the devil in the lives of men. The power over man changed hands when Jesus defeated the devil in his domain, hell. However, only those who believe in the finished work of Christ are allowed to experience and walk in this higher power that sets men free from bondage.
Whenever and wherever the gospel of Jesus is mentioned, the ability to compel and change things and situations come into force. This brings about conviction of sin, deliverance from satanic bondage, and the performing of miracles and healings. And the testimonies are there to see. Lives are changed! Even Paul told the people of Thessalonica, see how we lived among you as different from the way the people of the world do and you followed our examples (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6).
If you really love souls or your neighbor just as God does, start sharing the gospel of Jesus anywhere you find yourself and the power in the gospel will always do it’s work in the lives of its hearers.
Prayer: Father, let the power in the gospel be manifest as I speak of Jesus today.
