Bible Reading: Isaiah 56-58; 1 Thessalonians 3
Memory verse: “Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Isaiah 56:7 (KJV)
Prayer is the invitation of God into our affairs here on earth such that even though He is the sovereign ruler of the world without this invitation He cannot come into our affairs. God cannot intervene without man’s call. However, the invitation is by choice of the one inviting Him.
Many are in need today because they do not know what they need. Some think they need money, others believe it’s a job, yet when they get these things they are not satisfied. But those who call on God daily through prayer feel peace and assurance inside of them. The more you call on God the more He shows up with peace and wisdom to navigate the challenges presented to us daily in this fallen world.
Jesus refers to our memory verse when casting the money changers from the temple, as recorded in Mark 11:17: “Then He taught, saying to them, ‘Is it not written, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations”? But you have made it a den of thieves.’ The heart of the house of prayer is perhaps best captured by David’s heart cry in Psalm 27:4: “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.”
Prayer opens us up to the will of God. It is for everyone or all nations. That is why Cornelius could be visited by an angel (Acts 10). The purpose of God for him and his household came to pass. This is an example of what God plans for all nations who come to Him in His house of prayer.
How often do you go to God on prayer? As long as you breath daily, let prayer become a daily thing just like your breath. God is revealing things daily that pertains to you, your family and your nations as a whole. Pray without ceasing.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the privilege of coming to You in prayer. I receive grace to make prayer a lifestyle in Jesus name.
