Bible Reading: Isaiah 59-61; 1 Thessalonians 4
Memory verse: “He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit” 1 Thessalonians 4:8 (KJV)
Many people see the instructions passed by men of God as burdensome. Yet, these instructions came from God, the Father. God gives these instructions and words to His servants for the preservation and wellbeing of His people. God cares more about you than you do. He created you for a purpose and knows what is best for you. He passes instructions to us through our leaders.
Anytime you go against the set rules of the church, you have broken a spiritual rule that comes from the kingdom of God. If from the Kingdom of God then you have despised God. Though, we live in a world full of so many distractions, yet we have been given the Holy Spirit to help us focus and withstand whatever the world throws our way. Isaiah 59:19b (KJV), “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”
It was this same spirit on Jesus that made Him live a life that pleased God. He said in John 8:29 (KJV), “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” If Jesus can please the Father, so can we because of the same spirit in us. And only those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God (Romans 8:14).
You can live a life that pleases God by abstaining from all the bible warns against and obeying the instructions of our leaders through the help of the Holy Spirit in you. Without this Spirit it is impossible to please God.
Prayer: Dear Father, endue me with your Spirit afresh and I ask for grace to yield to His leading always.
