Bible Reading: Jeremiah 3-4; 2 Thessalonians 3
Memory verse: “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you” 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (KJV)
Prayer is the secret of the success to Paul’s ministry. Though he endured many trials, persecutions, tribulations, etc but the prayers of the saints in all the churches kept him going and he is aware of this.
There is a spiritual principle we must learn here. The more people are getting established the more expanded the prayer base of that ministry need to be so as to sustain the increase in the church and retain the people. In 2 Thessalonians chapters 1-2, Paul encouraged them about Jesus’ coming and also praised them for remaining firm in the Lord. Now in chapter 3, he then asked that they pray for him and other ministers that the word have the same effect on others they will minister to like it did on them, Thessalonians.
NKJV puts it this way, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you,” 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (KJV). In other words, we are to pray for ministers that the word of the Lord may run swiftly in the heart of others like it did in us such that they receive the word, believe, walk and grow in it. You may not have travelled physically to other continents in the spreading of the gospel, but God counts you among those who made it happen through your intercessions.
We need the prayers of other believers and they also need our prayers. With faithful intercession in the churches, God’s desires will be accomplished, Satan’s purpose frustrated and the Spirit’s full power revealed. Take prayers for others who are yet to be saved as a priority for in it lies God’s heart. He loves souls and desires none to perish.
Action Plan: Take time out every day to pray for ministers worldwide that the word of the Lord being shared will have swift impact on the recipients.
