Bible Reading: Jeremiah 7-8, 1 Timothy 2
Memory verse: “I exhort therefore that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For Kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” 1 Timothy 2:-12 (KJV)
Whenever instructions come from God they are meant to move us forward in life when obeyed. When not followed, you move backwards or remain in a spot. God told Judah in Jeremiah 7:23-24 (KJV), “But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. [24] But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.”
Paul, a servant of God, exhorts us in today’s memory verses to pray, intercede and make supplications for all men; For Kings, and for all that are in authority. By following the words of God through Paul, we, as a family, church or a country will begin to move forward and not backwards because of quietness and peace in all godliness and honesty. It is important to pray for your leaders whether Presidents, Pastor, boss at work, etc. A single decision made by them, because they have the authority, can either take us backward or forward in life.
David was provoked by the devil to number Israel (1 Chronicles 21:1). Even when he was warned against it by Joab, he used his authority to do the devil’s bidding. The consequences? 1Chronicles 21:7,14 (NKJV) says, “And God was displeased with this thing; therefore He struck Israel. [14[ So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.” The actions of a King influenced by the devil led to the death of 70,000 innocent men and took away the quietness and peace in the land. No one is innocent when their King or President or leader is heavily influenced by the devil.
You don’t need to like that boss or President or leader; Just pray for him. God backs his authority as a leader. His actions, when influenced by the devil, can bring calamity, or progress when influenced by God through your prayers. Pray for all leaders if you want to move forward in life in quietness and peace because “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” 1 Timothy 2:3 (KJV).
Prayer: Dear Father, by the leading of Your Spirit, influence every decision made by my leaders at work, church, country and organizations I belong to make decisions that are pleasing in Your sight in Jesus name.
