Bible Reading: Jeremiah 27-28; 2 Timothy 4
Memory verse: “I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me.” Jeremiah 27:5 (NKJV)
The well-being of the earth is uppermost in God’s heart; He cares so much about man and all His creations. In fact, the bible tells us that everything was created to bring Him glory and for His pleasure.
The bible says it is not given to man to direct his steps (Jeremiah 10:23). Man ought to be taking directions from God. He will always esteem His name and His will above anything man does on earth. This is the reason why he told Jeremiah to make wooden bond and yokes as a prophetic act to show Judah what will happen in the coming days.
His ways are higher and different from ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). The people of God refused to believe in the prophet Jeremiah wondering how a loving and merciful God will allow His people fall into captivity in the hand of a heathen King. “And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant; and the beasts of the field I have also given him to serve him” Jeremiah 27:6 (NKJV). Remember, He calls the heathen King ‘His servant.’
Our Lord Jesus taught us to pray heaven’s priority in Matthew 6.9-10, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” The heavens rule over the earth, so God will always put the government that will serve His purpose in that individual servant, whether heathen or not, on earth.
He has not changed. He is still the same yesterday today and for ever. Learn to hallow His name and esteem heaven’s will in everything you do. His will may not look good to you but that is where your peace and your tomorrow lies.
Prayer: Father, grace today to always prioritize your name and your will in everything I do in Jesus name.
