Bible Reading: Ezekiel 43-44; 2 Peter 2
“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished” 2 Peter 2: 9 (KJV)
The God we serve is a God of love and also a God of justice. He never fails to show love nor carry out judgement. In the course of carrying out His judgement, He singles out those who lives godly lifestyles.
God’s wrath came upon the world during the time of Noah. The sins of man in the time of Noah was so bad God noticed it was because “every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5).When the heart is continually evil it has lost every chance of being recovered to its original state. In fact God was so sorry He created man. Yet, in His judgement upon the earth He rescued Noah and his family. He gave Noah instructions that kept him and his family and eventually preserved the human race.
Lot, Abraham’s nephew, was also in the midst of so great a godless people that the bible says Lots spirit was vexed day to day with the unlawful deeds of the people of Sodom and Gomorrha (2 Peter 2:8). God was watching and understands all that Lot felt. He had to come down hard on the city but saved Lot and family. He sent angels to guide righteous Lot safely out of the city before raining fire on it.
What are you going through today at your place of work, business, neighborhood, school, etc? Godlessness has grown so much and in many forms! Yet, just like Noah and Lot we can still live godly in an ungodly world. Above all, it is reassuring to know that God almighty, as He has said in His word, will never leave nor forsake us as long as we remain in His word and His love.
You don’t have to join them. Rather, you get out from among them. God will always preserve those who are godly in heart and lifestyle. So make a decision today to stand for righteousness and hate wickedness and you will maintain a godly life in this ungodly world and be preserved.
Prayer Point: Father, grant me the grace to please You at all times in my thoughts and my lifestyle all the remaining days of my life such that any who sees me will see Jesus all over me in Jesus name.
