Bible Reading: Daniel 5-6; 1 John 4.
Memory Verse: “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.” Daniel 6:3 (KJV).
I have heard many Christians said, no one could be perfect and I ask myself whether the Bible says so? But contrary to that assertion, there are several instances where God testified to perfection of mere mortals!
In Genesis 17:1 (KJV), “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect”. God cannot ask any man to do what he is unable to do because he created us. Thus, when he asked Abraham to walk perfect before him, it means he had the capacity to do so.
Also in Job 1:8 (KJV), God testified of Job’s character “And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” So Job attained perfection in the eyes of God Almighty. Similarly, in our memory verse today, Daniel’s enemies testified concerning him that he lived a perfect life as they could not find any fault with him. Hear them “Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.” Daniel 6:4 (KJV)
If these men could live a perfect life, and our Lord Jesus Christ enjoins us to do so in Matthew 5:48 (KJV), “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” then everyone of us should recognize that this is God’s standard and we should all brace up and seek the help of the Holy Spirit to meet this standard. It is important to note that Apostle Paul stated that Jesus is coming for the church that have no blemish. Ephesians 5:27 (KJV) says of Jesus Christ “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
Since believers make up the church, Jesus is coming to present perfect believers to himself. You should therefore set your goal right which is to be holy. Remember Philippians 4:13 (KJV) says you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. If Job did it, Daniel did it and the Lord Jesus did it, then you can do it by the Grace of God. Certainly, no one can live a life of holiness by himself, you need the help of the Holy Spirit. But the Holy Spirit is only accessible to those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. So, if you have not, please surrender your life today by confessing your sins to Jesus Christ, makeup your mind not to live a sinful life again and Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Then you can begin a new life that will take you to eternal glory!
Prayer Point: Father, please give me the grace to live a life of holiness for the rest of my life in Jesus Christ’s name.
