Bible Reading: Genesis 12-14; Matthew 5:1-26
Memory verse: “And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.” Genesis 12:17 (KJV)
There was a time when people where held accountable for only their actions in a matter. But with time, we found out that the action was preceded by a thought and as a man thinketh so he acts out in life (Proverbs 23:7). However, mere thinking in a certain way can bring trouble on not just a person but his household.
The king of Egypt learnt this lesson about thoughts when he took the wife of Abraham with the intent of making her his wife. The bible tells us, “And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.” Genesis 12:17 (KJV). Before man, the king is yet to take Sarai as his wife. But before God he has already done the unthinkable in his thoughts. That is why He punished the king and his household.
The reason a lot of people are struggling today could be as a result of their thoughts. God knows the innermost thoughts of man. The Psalmist said in Psalm 139:2 (Message bible), “I am an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.” You can’t be thinking one way and getting results in another way. The happenings around your life are magneted by your thoughts.
To change your life and the things happening around you today you must change your thoughts. Learn to always think about the things you think and as you make the decision to settle on wholesome thoughts and on things that glorify God, the happenings around you will be very different.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me to think in line with your word and your ways.
