Bible Reading: Exodus 16-18; Matthew 19:16-30
Memory verse: “And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmuredagainst Moses and Aaron in the wilderness” Exodus 16:2 (KJV)
Murmuring is a common thing today. It’s done everywhere; in homes, schools, offices and even in churches. It has been commonly accepted by so many people as a normal thing. But if the murmuring now goes from man to God then there is a problem.
We may not see in our lifetime what the children of Israel experienced firsthand about the wonders of God: the plagues in Egypt while Goshen was exempted; the death of all firstborn of both man and beast in all of Egypt while Israel was exempted, and ultimately, the crossing of the Red Sea with water heaped on both sides while they walked on dry ground. Yet, that did not stop them from murmuring against Moses and God.
The reason for the murmuring? Food! They complained of hunger when in fact they are only missing the lifestyle of slavery in Egypt. If God can do all these miracles, how could food be a problem? We must learn to move on with our life whenever God moves us, leaving behind the things He took us away from. Abraham progressed because he never looked back after he was instructed to leave His father’s house. Lot’s wife fell because she lusted after the things that ought to be behind her.
Remember, when you murmur you show you lack faith in God. He may not be responsible for the things you are going through but He has not lost control of the happenings around you. He is more than capable to turn things around in your favour.
Prayer: Father, no matter the situation around me, give me grace to trust in You in Jesus name.
