Bible Reading: Exodus 31-32; Matthew 22:23-46
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: – Romans 8:16 KJV
The word ‘witness’ in our text means, “to testify jointly.” or to agree with someone. The text can also means the Holy Spirit agrees with our spirit that we’re the children of God.
This ‘agreement’ is an inner knowing, within you as a child of God. The truth is, the day you got born again, received Christ as your Lord and Saviour nothing really changed physically but you ‘knew’ in your heart that something had happened to you. You knew that God is your Father and eternal life has been infused into your being. That ‘knowing’ is the witness that the Holy Spirit agrees with your human spirit that you are now a child of God. And if the Holy Spirit is in agreement with you concerning that, then He can come into agreement with you concerning every other area of your life because this witness is in you. 1 John 5:10 says, “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself….”
Every child of God has the witness of the Holy Spirit in him or her. You only need to be more sensitive to the witness of the Holy Spirit to experience Him.
Apostle Paul was sensitive to the ‘witness’ of the Spirit when he was speaking to the captain of his ship in Acts 27:10, “And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.”
When Paul said, “…I perceive…” he was referring to the inward witness. The inward witness is a perception that you have in your spirit man with great conviction about somethings.
The inward witness might not seem remarkable but it is as supernatural as God leading you through visions or any other way.
Always follow the witness of the Spirit in your heart that always come as an idea, a thought, or intuition and you will always win in life in Jesus’ name!
Prayer: Father, lead me by Your Holy Spirit that resides in me.
