“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,”. – Luke 24:45 KJV
A number of things happen to us that we find unbelievable but that does not change the truth. King Nebuchadnezzar could not understand why three Hebrew boys will be ready to go into a fiery furnace because of their God rather than bow down unto him. But that did not change the truth.
A small child does not understand why his mother will not allow him to play with naked fire but that does not change the truth.
Similarly there are a number of things we do not understand until subsequent events unfold (like in the above examples when Nebuchadnezzar saw the fourth person in the furnace and when a child experiences the burning sensation of a naked fire). Such events could be physical or spiritual.
However as children of God, we have an ally (Jesus Christ) who is ready to open our understanding to such events. In Luke 24:45, Jesus opened the understanding of the disciples so that they could understand the scriptures.
All we need to do is ask Him. Matthew 7:7 says.Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
That is why Apostle Paul also prayed for the People in Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
So we need to call on God to open the eyes of our understanding concerning all events. He will surely give us word of wisdom and even word of knowledge on such issues.
Prayer: Father, open the eyes of my understanding concerning my life. Let me understand your purpose for my life and why I am in my current situation in Jesus name.
