Bible Reading: Numbers 24-25; Mark 2:15-28
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” – Mark 11:23
The words of a child of God are more powerful than you can imagine. Jesus said in Matthew 12:37, *“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Jesus was simply saying that your words determine your experience. You can not speak defeat and expect to live in victory. You can not expect to speak careless, empty, and vile words and get to experience salvation and deliverance from the things that affect everyday people.
A ‘mature’ or ‘perfect’ person according to the Bible is someone who knows how to craft and control the affairs of his/her life through his/her words. James 3:2 says, “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” With your words, you can tame any wrong desire, habit, or flaw. With your words, you can transform the events around you.
In our text, Jesus teaches the power of our words over life and nature but most importantly He taught the need to build God’s Word into our ‘conversations’ and everyday life. Ruling and reigning in life takes more than just a one-time declaration in a church service or prayer meeting. It is the continuous laying forth of our words that determines how we rule and reign in life. Jesus teaches that the things we have are the things that we continuously say. Our text says, “… he shall have whatsoever he saith”. Your experience is determined by the words that you are consistently saying forth from your mouth. Therefore, the Word of God must be enshrined in your everyday conversation. You do not need to say one thing in church and say another in the marketplace. You must become a man and woman of one word.
When your words are constantly laid forth in victory, blessings, prosperity, increase and power even during the chaos, bad news, hardship, and apparent austerity, there is no way that you can stay defeated because heaven sees to it that you have whatever you always say in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer: Father, help me to build your Words into my everyday life conversations in Jesus Name.
