“O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!”. – Deuteronomy 5:29.
Obedience means walking or doing things in accordance with stated or given instructions. It implies that the person obeying agrees to the authority of the person or institution to be obeyed. The person or institution whose instruction is obeyed is accepted as a higher authority or superior power.
It means walking right with the person or institution in authority. That is why obedience was counted as righteousness for Abraham. The bible records in Genesis 15:6(KJV), “And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness”.
So obedience for a child of God is living right with God. You cannot live right with God if you do not obey Him.
Obedience entails as stated in previous sessions, studying the word of God, and living the word. It means being a hearer and doer of the word of God. This implies living a life whether at work, at home, in church or in social circles in line with the will of God. Obedience must be complete irrespective of your position or location.
God makes a promise to all those who obey Him. He says in Deuteronomy 5:29(KJV) “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!”.
He promised all those that obey Him everlasting wellness!
Prayer: Father, help me to be doers of your word at all times so that it would be well with my household forever in Jesus name.
