Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 17-18; Luke 21:1-19.
Memory Verse: “And it shall turn to you for a testimony.” Luke 21:13 (KJV)
A testimony is defined by Webster Dictionary as a solemn declaration or affirmation made for the purpose of establishing or proving some fact.
I have heard several testimonies that moved me to tears when I ruminate on the power of God and how those things are manifested in the life of his disciples. A man testified at one of our church meetings about how he had an accident and in the course of surgical operation to save him, some metals were put in his leg to hold them due to severity of the accident. Several years later, he went out to evangelise as he used to do. And he did so much over a week that he felt so tired such that when he got home he slept off so deeply on one of the nights only for him to wake up and find the metal used to hold his leg beside him neatly laid down and he realized the great physician had worked on his legs!
Such testimonies are usually the products of deep spiritual exercise. Jesus Christ told his disciples that towards the end of this earth, the people shall persecute them, deliver them up and put them in prisons and brought them for judgment in front of kings and rulers but He will enrich them in utterance and so they did not need to think of what they should say. And He said concerning this in Luke 21:13 (KJV) “And it shall turn to you for a testimony.”
Such testimonies will not only testify about the truth of the living Christ but also win several others to Christ as they learn about the power and authority of our Lord Jesus. Concerning such testimonies, He said further in Luke 21:15 (KJV), “For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.”
But this will happen in the place of your engagement for God such as evangelism when you preach about Christ to others. What are you doing about this? When last did you share the word of God with others whether physically or virtually? How often do you talk about Him to others even concerning things that He has done in your life or the life of others that you know? Such testimonies will appeal to others and may win them to Christ.
Action Point: Look for at least one person and tell him/her about Christ today.
