Bible Reading: 1 Kings 3-5; Luke 23:1-26
Memory verse: “Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee” 1 Kings 3:12 (KJV)
Wisdom is a spirit. The wisdom which births all things is the one that came directly from the Spirit of God. This wisdom comes through impartation. This is the wisdom the bible says is “the principal thing.” With it comes understanding, knowledge and skills.
Solomon got imparted with the spirit of wisdom after he asked for an understanding heart. “Give therefore they servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” 1 Kings 3:9 (KJV). Since God is God of justice Solomon’s speech pleased Him so much that He gave him not only an understanding heart but a wise one too.
The effect of this wisdom was seen in the right judgement between two harlots who were fighting over a child (1 Kings 3:16-27). Moreso, his wisdom excelled all men on the face of the earth (1 Kings 3:30-32) and he was able to speak three thousand proverbs and his songs were a thousand and five (1 Kings 3:32). This wisdom of Solomon didn’t come from knowledge. Rather, it helped birth knowledge through understanding as he began to see and do the mind of God.
Adam got this wisdom at creation. He was able to tap into or connect into the mind of God via imparted wisdom such that he could name all the animals on the face of earth and everything God created. Moses too was imparted with this wisdom. He was able to share with us the story of creation even though he was not there.
You too can be a recipient of this wisdom. Ask God to impart you with wisdom as you get into alignment with His will. Let His face shine on you today.
Prayer: Father, give me an understanding heart that I may being glory to your name in Jesus name.
