Bible reading: 2 Kings 6-8; John 4:31-54
Memory verse: “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” Psalms 125:2 (KJV)
The LORD is always with and around His people but not all know about this. He is always with us protecting us and shielding us especially from the wickedness that is prevalent in the world today. But we must first believe that He is with us and then the manifestation of His presence.
Elisha and his servant woke up to the realization that their abode had been physically surrounded by enemy soldiers. The reason is that Elisha had been revealing the strategy of the enemy king to the king of Israel with the help of God. So, he sent men to go pick up Elisha. Physically, the Prophet was surrounded by the enemy, causing the servant to panick
The bible says in 2 Kings 6:17 (KJV), “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” There was never a reason to fear in the first place. Elijah then went on to sieze the same people that came to arrest him and took them to the king.
Still in today’s bible reading in 2 Kings 6-8, God’s surrounding presence was seen again when Benhadad, King of Syria gathered all his host, went up and besieged Samaria causing famine in the land. But God, who is always around and with His people dislodged the enemy causing a great noise as if a mightier army was marching towards the Syrians, causing them to flee. This caused the economic situation of Samaria to change overnight as prophesied by Prophet Elisha.
The presence of God around you is more real than what your optical eyes can see. You need the eyes of your heart to see God surrounding you always no matter the situation. Remember, He said in Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV), “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your ever abiding presence in my life. I re eive grace to continually walk in this consciousness in Jesus name.
